This is a quick and easy project to build a portable Raspberry Pi computer that fits right in a lunch box. It's a good first Pi project since it requires no coding, soldering or tooling of any kind. All you have to do it acquire the parts, plug everything in and secure it in the lunch box.
The Raspberry Pi isn't a very fast machine, but it IS extremely versatile and easy to use. This rig will have all the functionality of a wifi netbook, if a slow one with a very small screen.

There are lots of ways to do a project like this so feel free to deviate from my plans. All of the parts are modular and you can change its abilities a bit by using different parts.
EDIT: While I used a Raspberry Pi model B in this instructable, I would advise folks to use the Model B+, it uses less power than the Model B which sometimes can't run both the Wifi and Bluetooth dongles.

Megabots: Paintball with giant robots

Who hasn't looked at a sporting event and thought that it would be better if it involved giant robots wailing on each other? That seems to be the thinking of the people behind the MegaBots Kickstarter campaign, who are raising money to build giant humanoid robots with human drivers to take on each other in paintball arena games.
A MegaBot is the sort of robot that stands out in a crowd. Run by a driver-and-gunner team, the 15-ft (4.5-m) tall walking robot weighs 15,000 lb (6,800 kg) and has modular arms tipped with pneumatic guns firing 3-lb (1.3-kg) paint MegaBalls at 120 mph (193 km/h). According to the makers, it’s clad in customizable breakaway armor plating that flies off when it takes a hit while, like a videogame, a computer keeps track of "damage" and makes the robot eject limbs, limp, make noise, and jam its weapons as the hits mount.

To be more accurate there are two versions of this flexible arm project for members to download and make.
Version one uses two tendons to move the arm up and down.
Version two uses a single tendon with spacers to keep it away from the centre line.

Crosscut sleds are essential for woodworkers with traditional table saws. They make cross cutting operations a lot more accurate, a lot cleaner, and a lot safer. With a couple neat tricks, you can really expand the usefulness of this jig. Woodworking is essentially pattern making. A jig like this helps make repeatable, precision cut patterns easier.

I have quite a few sleds for different operations. The problem is they can be quite large and storing them in my garage shop is becoming a chore. I decided to create a multi-purpose sled for various cross cutting, compound miter cutting, and dado operations.

Currently, launching satellites is an involved and expensive process. DARPA’s Experimental Spaceplane (XS-1) program hopes to make this a thing of the past, by developing a shuttle-like resuable launch system that can turn around from landing to relaunch in one day, and bring down the cost of launching by a factor of 10.
We live in a fast-paced world where international situations can change overnight. Areas that were once stable and peaceful can suddenly turn into hotbeds of war and crisis. To deal with these security threats, the United States relies, in part, on its fleet of military surveillance satellites. Unfortunately, whereas a threat can pop up suddenly, satellites can only be launched from a handful of locations, plus they require the logistics of a small war to launch, and take years and hundreds of millions of dollars to put into orbit. This makes putting assets in space on short notice a herculean task.

Raspberry Pi Smart Target

The Raspberry Pi Smart Target was designed to be hit by the now famous Flying Monkey, but It can be hit by any other light object such as small ball. When the Target is hit the following events happen:

  1. A random sound effect is played through a small set of speakers connected to the Raspberry Pi.
  2. A "congratulations" message is displayed in the front LCD screen.
  3. The Raspberry Pi grabs a snapshot from a network camera (Dropcam) and is posted to a social network.
  4. A random message is posted along with the picture taken by the Dropcam.
  5. The whole action is immortalized in the interwebz.
 I built the target to showcase the Oracle Social Network Public API, which is a RESTful based API.  I used the Target during the Oracle Open World 2012 conference. It was setup at the Oracle Technology Network Lounge, so people stopped by throughout the day and gave the Target a shot (pun intended). If someone hit the Target they also got to keep the monkey as a keepsake.

Since the Oracle Social Network is not released at this point I posted a modified version posting to Twitter.

This invention will enable the control of the movement of the valves and the use of intake and exhaust springs with constant force / displacement lower than the traditional systems and the replacement of the dual camshaft. This technical advance results from the permanent commitment of AJP to develop new solutions which, when incorporated in the bikes that we produce, allow us to offer distinctive and technically advanced products. We will give here more news about this new system that, once the testing phase is completed, we hope to incorporate in the engines of our bikes.

Improving 3D print adhesion with hairspray(!) 

Thingiverse user phineasjw had problems with his 3D prints not fully sticking to his MakerBot’s build platform. Then he noticed a can of hairspray… This is such an offbeat solution to a common hobbyist 3D printing problem that I just had to write about it. Making sure that the first layer of a print sticks to the platform is key to producing a high-quality object. If it doesn’t stick right, the edges can warp, or the entire object can come loose before the print is complete. With that in mind, phineasjw’s solution was to spray a light mist of Aqua Net Extra Super Hold over his build platform’s kapton tape. Since doing so, he and other brave Thingiverse users say that they’ve had excellent results with their prints!

Amoritz GT apresenta seu supercarro brasileiro

 Talvez você não se lembre dele, mas no começo de 2010 o anúncio da criação do primeiro supercarro brasileiro ganhou destaque nosprincipais sites automotivos do mundo. Não, não estamos falando do desaparecido Vorax, e sim do ambicioso projeto conhecido inicialmente como Amoritz GT DR7, que prometia algo do nível dos Koenigsegg e Pagani, usando chassi próprio e o vitaminado V10 do Dodge Viper. Depois de dois anos o carro mudou de nome e, segundo o Carsale, finalmente foi apresentado na noite de ontem (28) em São Paulo.
O DoniRosset foi idealizado pelo designer Fernando Morita em parceria com o empresário William Rosset como um presente para seu pai, Donino Rosset. Além do nome, a potência também mudou, e saltou dos sugeridos 650 cv para 1007 cv, gerados pelo V10 de 8,4 litros do Viper com um sistema twin turbo, que será montado em posição central e queimará apenas etanol.

Developed by Mo Ehsani, Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at the University of Arizona, the new pipe, called InfinitiPipe, is of a lightweight plastic aerospace honeycomb under layers of resin-saturated carbon fiber fabric put together by a new fabricating process that allows pipes to be built in indefinite lengths on site.
