Impressionante!

IS PLASMA THE MISSING LINK IN ASSEMBLING 3D PRINTED PARTS?
UMAIR IFTIKHAR

Creabis, a Kirchheim-based 3D printing service bureau, is using Relyon Plasma’s piezobrush PZ2, a handheld cold plasma device, to bond 3D printed parts.
The piezobrush PZ2 uses plasma to activate surface particles of a substance which strengthens the adhesion between joined parts. With a strong bond between assembled 3D printed parts, it is possible to manufacture large-sized sturdy components on small sized 3D printers.
According to the CEO of Creabis, Ralf Deuke, plasma-aided bonding will lead to more novel applications in 3D printing.

Make a Portable Computer Using a Raspberry PiTylerJohnson

Have you ever wanted a portable computer you can take with you? This is the easiest way to build your own. For those of you who do not know what a Raspberry Pi is, it is a complete computer about the size of deck of cards that can run many different kinds of Linux. This portable computer will be complete with a screen, keyboard, wifi, and a battery. This is just to show how to make the components work on battery, this indestructible does not have instructions for building a case. There are a lot of interesting ideas for cases and I did want to limit anyone's options. I tried to find the easiest way of making a portable all in one battery powered computer.
For this project you will need to be comfortable doing electrical soldering and desoldering; if you are have not done electrical soldering before, there are many tutorials online.

3D Flutuante, support-less 3D!

Uma seringa esguicha material num Gel;

steelcase X MIT create customized furniture by 3D printing into liquid gel
up until now, 3D printing has been a desirable yet limited tool for manufacturing. whilst great for creating small, one-off objects, the technique has long needed to be adapted to be used on a large, commercial level. with this in mind, scientists at the MIT self-assembly lab have collaborated with the global furniture brand steelcase and acclaimed product designer christophe guberan to yield a 3D printing breakthrough—piloting a new process dubbed rapid liquid printing. the technique allows for the creation of large scale objects in just minutes, and is poised to make large-scale manufacturing of customized furniture a reality.

Take The Mystery Out Of Laser Engraving Costs With This Price Comparison Tutorial

Lisa Horn
Laser engraving: It turns basic laser cut designs from ordinary to extraordinary. But this added style, beauty and impact can significantly increase your design costs. To be able to achieve excellent design while staying on budget, you’ve got to get smart.
This means you’ve got to get smart with how files are built…and this may take some detective work to determine exactly where there are opportunities to tighten up a design that saves time—and money.
But does getting these laser engraving costs just right seem like a mystery that can’t be solved? You don’t have to be Maxwell Smart, Inspector Clouseau or 007 to solve this case. We’ve done all the legwork for you…and it didn’t require a clandestine impossible mission or an enigmatic decoder machine to get the files.

Ultimate Third Hand

Franklin7993
What is a third hand?
A third hand is a devise used to hold something in place while work is being performed. It is essentially a third hand to aid your two hands. It is like having someone else’s hand to help hold something that you are working on. With the aid of another hand to steady your work you can perform the task that you are doing with a steady hand.
You can use a third hand to hold parts while using a torch to heat the parts and solder them together.
A third hand is useful to hold parts in place when using a soldering iron to make a join.
A third hand is very helpful when gluing parts together. There are dozens of other uses.
Essentially a third hand holds items in place while you work on them.

Fantástico.

3D printing metal on a desktop FDM printer, exclusive interview with The Virtual Foundry founderMichael Petch
Is 2017 going to be the year for 3D printing metal? Recently 3D Printing Industry reported announcements from Markforged about their forthcoming Metal X 3D printer, a drop in the price of metal additive manufacturing with the OR Laser machine and a decrease in the size of machines with InssTek’s DMT MS250.
I spoke with Brad Woods of The Virtual Foundry to find out more about his plans to bring 3D printed metal to a wider user group.
3D printing with copper
“Suddenly every industry is starting to realize what 3D printing can do,” he tells me. Woods has developed a range of 3D printing materials called Filamet™. This material is sold in rolls and bulk pellets. It is currently available in copper, with more metals planned for release this year.
Filamet™ is a highly infused 3D printing filament and early adopters have found a range of uses for the product. The combination of FDM 3D printing and Filamet™ produces attractive and unique prints with a satisfying weight. Once printed, secondary processing using a kiln and The Virtual Foundry’s “Black Magic Powder” produces a pure metal print.
A photo sent to me illustrates the end result. “We leave the print layer lines in these so you can see the level of detail that is reproduced. It also helps with the skeptics, but I think we’re past the unbelievers by now.”

Down Draft Sanding Table (On the Cheap!)*

RichFarwell
I had a commercial down-draft sanding table when I had my own shop. It was great at keeping the dust in the shop at tolerable levels. But that table is long gone now. These days, I volunteer at our local SLO MakerSpace as the Woodshop “Guru.” We had a few “extra parts” sitting around, so I thought I’d build a new table for the Space because I really liked mine.

18 Lessons in Smart Prototyping From a Self-Made Billionaire

Matt Freund

Dan Gelbart made a fortune in R&D for his company Creo. His prototyping was done at home, in his basement, using tools on par with what many of us have access to at our local hackerspaces and universities.
In his spare time he has put together a short YouTube course on “how to build stuff” for students and researchers whose primary skill sets are unrelated to fabrication. The goal being to build good things quickly with simple equipment. The course is solid gold for anyone looking to improve their shop or hackerspace on the cheap. Dan didn’t always have his fortune, and he knows lots of ways to save money like using $20 diamond-glass plates from supermarket scanners as your cheapo sand blaster’s window so that it’s both safe and scratch resistant.

Lunch Box Computer with Raspberry Pi
agent036

This is a quick and easy project to build a portable Raspberry Pi computer that fits right in a lunch box. It's a good first Pi project since it requires no coding, soldering or tooling of any kind. All you have to do it acquire the parts, plug everything in and secure it in the lunch box.
The Raspberry Pi isn't a very fast machine, but it IS extremely versatile and easy to use. This rig will have all the functionality of a wifi netbook, if a slow one with a very small screen.

There are lots of ways to do a project like this so feel free to deviate from my plans. All of the parts are modular and you can change its abilities a bit by using different parts.
EDIT: While I used a Raspberry Pi model B in this instructable, I would advise folks to use the Model B+, it uses less power than the Model B which sometimes can't run both the Wifi and Bluetooth dongles.

We started by looking at how the Bend Sensor is buildt up, and how it works.
We then looked at different areas we can see it beeing used in.
Finally we made a lamp were you can change colour of the light, and also the brightness of a LED.
You will find the steps of how to make your own lamp, including code and fritzing wireing at the end.

Megabots: Paintball with giant robots

David Szondy

Who hasn't looked at a sporting event and thought that it would be better if it involved giant robots wailing on each other? That seems to be the thinking of the people behind the MegaBots Kickstarter campaign, who are raising money to build giant humanoid robots with human drivers to take on each other in paintball arena games.
A MegaBot is the sort of robot that stands out in a crowd. Run by a driver-and-gunner team, the 15-ft (4.5-m) tall walking robot weighs 15,000 lb (6,800 kg) and has modular arms tipped with pneumatic guns firing 3-lb (1.3-kg) paint MegaBalls at 120 mph (193 km/h). According to the makers, it’s clad in customizable breakaway armor plating that flies off when it takes a hit while, like a videogame, a computer keeps track of "damage" and makes the robot eject limbs, limp, make noise, and jam its weapons as the hits mount.
