O melhor trabalho até agora, que eu tenha visto, para transformarem um Engenho de furar num Torno de Madeira sólido e práctico!

This My Homemade Lathe I made Last year. It consists of An old drill press and Off cuts I had Leftover in the shop. Rails are from An Old louvre door some pine and for the rotating centre I used the bit/ collet end from an old router that was broke. I use this quite often and it still works great.

About
Gear Generator is a tool for creating involute spur gears and download them in SVG format. In addition it let you compose full gear layouts with connetcted gears to design multiple gears system with control of the input/output ratio and rotation speed. Gears can be animated with various speed to demonstrate working mechanism.
Why this tool was created? Just for fun. I'm working on a hobby project, a scale construction machine, which needed some spur gears, and i quickly made a simple spur gear creator script in Javascript with SVG output. As it was done, i couldn't stop, and i added more and more features, and finally i got this tool. It was a pleasure to code the whole thing, i'm a bit sad it is already done, so if you have any idea, what would be a helpful feature, just let me know by sending an e-mail (I couldn't have done this tool without Pageflip, my main project).
Notes about browser compatibility: all new major browsers are supported (i didn't tested IE), but unfortunately Chrome can't render SVG circle correctly. The winners are: Opera for the best performance (shame on me, i never use it) and Firefox for the best looking SVG render.

Open Bionics 
This is a step by step guide on how to make an Open Bionics Ada robotic hand. This is derived from the Dextrus robotic hand, by the Open Hand Project. It assumes you have either ordered the Ada robotic hand kit or have access to a 3D printer are planning to print 3D parts from YouMagine or thingiverse. The list of required 3D printed parts, components and tools are stated below. If you have ordered the Ada kit, you can skip the first step and start straight from step 2.
This hand would provide an excellent research platform for robotics or a test platform for prosthetics research. It has been designed to be easy to build and repair and should be a great project for someone with interests in robotics or prosthetics and wants their very own robotic hand!

In third-world countries, it is hard to get good or even decent medical materials. What if you have been injured in a terrible accident where you lose a leg? It's either you sell your house or you have to be bound to a wheel chair for the rest of your life. This may allow those in those countries to make their life a little bit better.

In case you didn't know this yet, compressed air is pretty awesome.  With simple mechanical systems - pumps - energy can be stored and used for an infinite amount of applications.  What I like about compressed air is how simple and accessible it is.  Anyone with a bike pump can start moving air to greater pressures.  Soda-pop bottles can be turned into air tanks, and by looking a little online and on Instructables, you'll find people who've used compressed air to do everything from shooting water balloons to powering a bicycle.

In this Instructable, I will show how I made a miniature compressed air turbine.

DIY Prosthetic Hand & Forearm (Voice Controlled)

Do you live with only one hand, or ever feel two just isn't enough? Well now you can make another! This project combines two very cool things: an arduino voice recognition shield and an open-source 3D printed robotics project called InMoov. Basically what I've done is modify the InMoov hand/forearm to be usable as a prosthetic (or additional appendage) and add a VR (voice recognition) shield to receive verbal commands and then make corresponding motions with the hand. The advantage of voice control is that it doesn't require muscles and is more flexible to different physical conditions (also hands free!). My program includes 15 general hand gestures and actions for everyday living! When I was looking into myoelectric arms kept thinking that the functionality wasn't worth the thousands of dollars. While mine isn't as fancy as some it's remarkable what you can create with desktop 3D printers, an arduino, and servos!

Autonomous quadcopter uses a smartphone as its brains

With one possible exception, autonomous quadcopters are not something that you would expect to be inexpensive. A relatively cheap model may indeed be on its way, however. Designed by the Vienna University of Technology’s Virtual Reality Team, the tiny aircraft utilizes the processor and camera of an off-the-shelf smartphone.
The Vienna team, led by chief engineer Annette Mossel, programmed the quadcopter’s navigation software into the processor using an app.
Once in flight, the UAV uses the phone’s camera to identify QR-like coded squares placed on the floor within a room. These allow it to create a map of the room, so it can subsequently find its way around the space on its own. Ultimately, plans call for it to be able to identify actual objects naturally present in a room (such as tables and chairs) using a Kinect-style depth sensor, and create its map using those.

Now, another biomedical function can be added to its list – because it’s known to have antimicrobial qualities, it’s been used to stop infections of the skin and soft tissues.
According to the American Society for Microbiology, such infections are the second most commonly-encountered type in private practice, and the most common type presented in emergency rooms. Unfortunately, as bacterial resistance to antibiotics grows, other means of stopping these infections are increasingly needed.

According to the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), there are some 32 million amputees in the world today, around 80 percent (25 million) of whom live in developing countries where only five percent have been fitted with an artificial limb. It is estimated that 200,000 people lost a limb as a result of the 2010 Haiti earthquake alone. Two low-cost, printable prostheses highlight the potential impact 3D printing could have on the quality of life for millions as the technology becomes more accessible around the world.
