Impressionante!

IS PLASMA THE MISSING LINK IN ASSEMBLING 3D PRINTED PARTS?
UMAIR IFTIKHAR

Creabis, a Kirchheim-based 3D printing service bureau, is using Relyon Plasma’s piezobrush PZ2, a handheld cold plasma device, to bond 3D printed parts.
The piezobrush PZ2 uses plasma to activate surface particles of a substance which strengthens the adhesion between joined parts. With a strong bond between assembled 3D printed parts, it is possible to manufacture large-sized sturdy components on small sized 3D printers.
According to the CEO of Creabis, Ralf Deuke, plasma-aided bonding will lead to more novel applications in 3D printing.

Make a Portable Computer Using a Raspberry PiTylerJohnson

Have you ever wanted a portable computer you can take with you? This is the easiest way to build your own. For those of you who do not know what a Raspberry Pi is, it is a complete computer about the size of deck of cards that can run many different kinds of Linux. This portable computer will be complete with a screen, keyboard, wifi, and a battery. This is just to show how to make the components work on battery, this indestructible does not have instructions for building a case. There are a lot of interesting ideas for cases and I did want to limit anyone's options. I tried to find the easiest way of making a portable all in one battery powered computer.
For this project you will need to be comfortable doing electrical soldering and desoldering; if you are have not done electrical soldering before, there are many tutorials online.

Polaroid 3D!

Polaroid launches new 3D printers and modeling pens at CES 2017

Anthony Thurston
Polaroid, the company that many of you still associate with instant photography, has announced several new products at CES 2017 with a very different focus — 3D printing and modeling. The new 3D printers and pens are aimed at making the technology easy to use and more accessible to the general public.
Starting off with the 3D printers, Polaroid is launching three models to choose from, varying in size but with each of the units manageable in a home or small office environment.

We bridge the gap between nanotechnology and real world applications. Meso is the space in-between.
MesoGlue was founded by Huang and two of his PhD students: They had a dream of a better way of sticking things together.
“Our first inspiration came from the desire to make dye-sensitized solar cells last longer, giving this technology the longevity necessary to become an important energy solution. We then heard reports of iPhones exploding, and realized that not only could we make devices safer, but could make them run cooler and last longer as well. We are excited to be using our expertise in nanotechnology to advance the state of technology and hopefully make the world a safer place.”

Blooms: Phi-Based Strobe Animated Sculptures

edmark
This instructable demonstrates and explains blooms, a unique type of sculpture I invented that animates when spun while lit by a strobe light (or captured by a video camera with a very fast shutter speed).
Unlike a traditional 3D zoetrope, which is essentially a flip book of multiple objects, a bloom is a single coherent sculpture whose ability to be animated is intrinsic to its geometry.

Building A Computer Desk / DIY Desk PC
craftedworkshop
In this two part video and Instructable, I'll show you how to build your own computer desk / desk PC. What's a desk PC? Well, you take all of your computer components and shove them into your desk, negating the need for a computer case. More importantly, they're fun to build and trick out!
Make sure to check out the two videos above before moving onto the Instructable! There's a lot of detail that's hard to convey through pictures and text alone. Onwards!

A malta da Arduino não pára...

CES17: ARDUINO UNVEILS LORA MODULES FOR THE INTERNET OF THINGS
Brian Benchoff
WiFi and Bluetooth were never meant to be the radios used by a billion Internet of Things hats, umbrellas, irrigation systems, or any other device that makes a worldwide network of things interesting. The best radio for IoT is something lightweight which operates in the sub-Gigahertz range, doesn’t need a lot of bandwidth, and doesn’t suck down the power like WiFi. For the last few years, a new low-power wireless communication standard has been coming on the scene, and now this protocol — LoRa — will soon be available in an Arduino form factor.

Podem fazer um espectáculo, com esta Impressão...
E são instruídos passo-a-passo, como montar tudo:

Micro 105 FPV Quadcopter - 3D Printed punkkills
I've been flying 250 sized FPV (first person video) quadcopters for just over a year now. For those who aren't familiar with FPV, you outfit a camera to the front of your quadcopter and transmit the video to a pair or goggles or a monitor. You then get to pilot the quadcopter from the perspective of the aircraft. It is so much fun and lets you fly in ways that would be impossible line of site.
I wanted to build a micro FPV quadcopter that I could fly around my house and in areas where my larger copters are too big. I have a 3D printer so I was hoping that I could find a 3D printed frame that I could use. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any 3D printed frames that were exactly what I wanted. I decided to design my own! My goals were to keep it crash resistant, light weight and offer good protection for onboard gear.
I'm going to walk you through the steps to building your very own micro FPV quadcopter. You will have a blast flying it and will have the pride of having built it yourself!

10 Breadboard Projects For Beginners

Saiyam
Breadboard is a great way to construct electronic projects easily and in less time without the need of soldering. A problem that is faced by beginners in the field of electronics is that they cannot solder the components neatly on printed circuit boards. One bad solder joint can lead to the project not working. When the project does not work, they eventually loose their confidence and cease to continue making projects. Before attempting another project, they have to think twice. Another problem faced by them is that if they try to solder and make a project, it does not work because of poor soldering or the circuit that was taken from a book or magazine lacked instructions or it was wrong. Now after spending a lot of time on making it, what they have to face is dissapointment.
This instructable gives a walkthrough of ten projects that can be made easily on a standard size breadboard thus solving the problem of hobbyists. Each projects is followed by a schematic, a breadboard layout, complete description with instructions, parts list and the difficulty level. The difficulty level increases as you make each project. Before making the projects a description of breadboard as well as electronic components is given which gives a complete understanding to beginners. All the projects are tested before they were added and all of them work.

Impressionante!

3D, do Smartphone!

Transform Your Smartphone into a 3D Printer with OLO… Seriously
MICHAEL MOLITCH-HOU
The title of this article may sound like post-modern gibberish, but transforming your smartphone into a 3D printer is exactly what OLO is designed to do.  Developed by Solido3D, a rapid prototyping and digital fabrication firm that describes itself as “the first Italian ‘digital factory'”, OLO is a device that its designers claim can turn any smartphone into a 3D printer.  And, in about a month, OLO will be available for purchase for only $99 on Kickstarter.
Though the actual mechanics of OLO have yet to be revealed, the OLO 3D team tells me that the battery-powered device consists of only 7 components and one motor and uses “smartphone electronics to their full potential”.  The app behind the printer will be free to download and allow users to upload and manage their 3D models, as well as send them to print.  Additionally, they will be able to share their models and make their skills available to the OLO community, making the printer itself a social device.

E a Element14 vai sortear 5!
É bom!

We’re giving away 5 BBC micro:bits!
Last month the BBC unveiled the design of the micro:bit, part of the BBC Make it Digital initiative. element14 joins other key partners Barclays, BT, Google, Code Club and the British Computing Society in this major initiative which will see one million micro: bits gifted to each 11-12 year old in the UK in Autumn.  The micro:bit has been designed to teach entry level coding and the initiative has been created as a result of the skills shortage currently facing the UK.  It is estimated that 1.4 million ‘digital professionals’ will be needed in the UK in the next five years.
Leveraging its expertise in supporting a product from design through to production element14 involvement in the project has included cost optimization, options for design for education, and manufacturing services of the micro:bit. element14 has worked closely with ARM on the design of the board, Freescale, providers of some of the silicon on the board, and IO Note on the manufacture and shipping.
The only way to get hold of a micro:bit outside of the classroom right now is here on element14. We have five micro: bits to giveaway as part of our RoadTest.

What is Kodu?
Kodu lets kids create games on the PC and Xbox via a simple visual programming language. Kodu can be used to teach creativity, problem solving, storytelling, as well as programming. Anyone can use Kodu to make a game, young children as well as adults with no design or programming skills.
Since Kodu's introduction in 2009, we have visited the White House, teamed up with great groups like NCWIT and DigiGirlz, inspired academic research and been the subject of a book (Kodu for Kids).
Kodu for the PC is available to download for free. Kodu for the Xbox is also available in the USA on the Xbox Marketplace, in the Indie Games channel for about $5.

Onion Omega Linux WiFi Development Board Launches (video)
Julian Horsey
Following on from our article February introducing the new Onion Omega development board and invention platform for building Internet of Things projects, those of you that have been patiently waiting for its Kickstarter launch will be pleased to know that it is now available.
The open source Onion Omega is a hardware development platform that has been designed specifically for software developers and takes the form of a small yet powerful Linux + WiFi development board.
The Onion Omega also features cloud integration and app store, making projects is as easy as say installing applications on your smartphone. Its creators Onion explain a little more :
“It comes with built-in WiFi, Arduino-compatible and it runs full Linux. It lets you prototype hardware devices using familiar tools such as Git, pip, npm, and using high level programming languages such as Python, Javascript, PHP. The Onion Omega is fully integrated with the Onion Cloud, making it a breeze to connect physical devices to the Web to create Internet of Things applications.
The Onion Omega’s powerful processor is capable of running the full Linux operating system. This means you can install OpenCV with a single command to add image recognition capabilities to your drone. You can use git to check out the latest changes your colleagues made to the coffee brewer.

Bravo!

3D printed wheelchair Hand Drive is an affordable replacement to expensive lever-powered wheelchairs
Simon

Time and time again, one of the most exciting developments that we’ve been seeing with 3D printing has been in disrupting traditionally manufactured products with products that users are capable of manufacturing on their own for much cheaper than what they would otherwise retail for.  Among other reasons, this dramatically brings the cost of goods down since there is little overhead in terms of marketing, shipping and the cost of manufacturing the parts through traditional processes.
When combined with how easy it is to share these open source product designs, it becomes clear just how powerful this notion can be - especially for niche-specific medical products that are oftentimes not covered by insurance and are very expensive for what they are.
