Silicone molding is an affordable production method that can allow you to make a series of identical objects for prototyping and functional testing. Until now, however, fabricating molds for casting complex objects required a lot of experience and also involved manual work, which made the process slow and expensive. Scientists at the Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell'Informazione (ISTI-CNR) and the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) have developed a new tool for fabricating digital objects through reusable silicone molds. The tool automatically finds the best method to design the molds, and also delivers templates for so-called "metamolds": Rigid, 3D printed molds used to fabricate the optimized silicone molds.

Homemade CNC with 3D Printed Parts - Redesign

This is the second version of my DIY homemade CNC. It's a complete redesign because of some issues that I've had with the first one. The main issue with the first version was that the wooden Y axis was getting warped (by moisture I guess). Also the bearings were too small and the aluminium X rails were not strong enough to carry the weigth. That's why I've switched over to use 20mm x 20mm square steel tubes for both Y- and X axis. I've designed the 3D printed parts with Fusion 360 and used Inkscape for the Y axis drilling template. To control the machine I'm using an Arduino UNO with GRBL firmware and an Arduino CNC Shield. There are plenty of tutorials to find on how to connect and use it so I did not show it in the video. Here are some useful links:

"The Cohen funding allowed us to see how our product would solve problems in real-time, and how it could provide value, rather than just existing in the lab as a research toy," Guerin says.
Now READY Robotics' president and chief technical officer, Guerin calls the startup's product, TaskMate, the "Swiss-army knife of robots."


The company installs its software in a pre-made robot, making the machine easy to program and adjust — similar to how Microsoft made personal computing accessible to non-programmers with software like DOS and Windows. Once trained in the system, users can switch the tasks their robot performs in minutes or hours instead of days or weeks and cut out the cost of an outside programmer.
After using the Cohen grant to build and test a READY Robotics prototype, the technology earned a $100,000 Maryland Innovation Initiative grant from TEDCO — the Maryland Technology Development Corporation — and then raised $3.75 million in seed funding. Since opening for business officially June 2016, READY Robotics has grown to house 12 employees in its South Baltimore office, and Guerin and his team have kept busy testing prototypes with manufacturers and attracting more investors and customers.

Before starting with this Instructable, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Instructables for featuring Single Cylinder Air Engine. I am indeed honored and humbled, again, many thanks.
Single Cylinder Air Engine runs on compressed air, a vacuum cleaner, a balloon, or even lung power. I've included three adapters in the design to interface with each. Please note the friction test video; your engine needs to pass this test before being successfully operated on balloon power.
The design incorporates two ports, one upper and one lower. When Single Cylinder Air Engine is viewed from the port side, "Wheel Piston.stl" rotates clockwise when pressure is applied to the upper port, and counter clockwise when a vacuum is applied to the upper port. As pressure or vacuum is applied to the upper port, the lower port functions as an exhaust (when pressure is applied) or an intake (when vacuum is applied). The opposite occurs when the lower port is used for pressure or vacuum.
