DIY Ultraviolet Sterilization Device (UVClean)

henrydmayne

Introduction

Hi all and welcome to my very first instructable! In this step by step guide, you will learn how to create your very own ultraviolet sterilization device that can be used as either a wand, or as an automatic sterilization chamber. The device, called the UVClean, uses a special UVC bulb that can sterilize nonporous surfaces in a matter of minutes.

Features include:

-Sturdy and ergonomic design

-Genuine 253.7nm 3.5W UVC bulb

-Bi-color OLED display

-Passcode protected interface

-Comprehensive menu system

-Continuous handheld mode, and automatic timer mod

 2) This device is in fact a sanitizer, not a sterilizer. Sanitizing is the process of removing most organisms from a surface 99.9%, while sterilizing is the process of removing ALL organisms from a surface. This device is not medical grade, and it should not be perceived as such.

How to Make Arduino Smartwatch With Custom PCB

 Aarav G

Tinkercad Projects »
Hi all, in this instructable you will see how a smartwatch can be made using an Arduino board and a few other components. We are going to design and get a custom PCB fabricated which will be the motherboard of our watch housing the main circuit and the brain of the watch ATmega 328P which we will salvage from an Arduino Nano board.

I have chosen the Arduino Nano and not the more commonly used Arduino UNO because the Nano features a Surface Mount chip so it's much more compact and in this project, space is key because we need to fit all the components in the least space possible.

I am going to use a 160 mAh Li-Po (Lithium Polymer) battery which will easily be able to power the watch on regular use for at least a week which is quite good enough. We will use a USB battery charging module for charging the battery. This will also have a USB port in it to charge the battery!

I have designed the body of the watch in a 3d design software and you can easily get it 3d-printed anywhere. This was we can keep the watch completely personalised according to your need. The watch will be activated by using a push-button present at the side of the watch.

The watch will have Bluetooth functionality and will be connected to an app that can be used to track data. It can count the steps, distance and the calories burnt using an accelerometer module. With the same components and in some iterations in the code and the app, we can also easily track messages and calls received on the phone through the smartwatch! The watch will also have a heartrate measuring sensor in it which will be able to measure your pulse and I have tried it out. It's pretty accurate!

DIY Desktop 5-axis CNC Mill

i_nerantzis

OK, you bought your router and you are happy with it. If you are an artist.

But... if you are an engineer... you probably are not so happy.

You cut some 2D stuff. Then try some 2.5D and start getting excited. And then, there comes a day when you start wondering... What if I can make something more out of my 3-axis router?

Then it comes to your mind that you can always convert one of the axis from linear to rotary! Yes this is it! You start doing it... you succeed, but deep down inside you know it.

You have to go all the way to the end and do it properly. You need to make the conversion to a full 5-axis machine to be satisfied! If you feel like it, then follow my lead.

Getting set up for working from home as an electronics engineer.

Andrew Back

There are often times when it would be convenient to work from home, such as when we need to be physically present for some reason or given the current situation, when remote working might help limit the spread of coronavirus. Not to mention that it’s also handy having a setup to work on spare time projects and the inevitable, “I wondered if you could fix this?” jobs.

This post takes a look at getting a home workspace set up with the typically essential tools and equipment for working on electronics. Of course, what may be required in practice is going to vary depending upon the precise nature of the work and replicating a production line or advanced laboratory capabilities, for example, may prove a little more challenging.

DIY Brushless Dremel Tool
DIY KING 00

Its been almost two years as I got my first batch of cordless tools, most of them were brushless so love the amount of power these tools offer.
With me scratching my head about what to built next I had an idea to built a brushless Dremel tool thats powered by those high capacity lithium ion batteries.
Well the idea sounds good but the challenge it to make that brushless Dremel tool without throwing a lot of money on parts and making the whole project as easy as possible.
So the goal is to built a brushless Dremel tool out of scratch. So get through this intractable in which I am going to show you how to make a Brushless Dremel Tool under just 15$.
Lets get building…

New products: Jrk G2 USB Motor Controllers with Feedback
Jan

After many months or years of work (depending on how you look at it), I am happy to introduce our newest motor controllers, the Jrk G2 USB Motor Controllers with Feedback, which we are releasing today in four power variants:

Jrk G2
18v19

Jrk G2
24v13

Jrk G2
18v27

Jrk G2
24v21
Recommended max
operating voltage:
24 V(1) 34 V(2) 24 V(1) 34 V(2)
Max nominal
battery voltage:
18 V 28 V 18 V 28 V
Max continuous current
(no additional cooling):
19 A 13 A 27 A 21 A
Dimensions: 1.4″ × 1.2″ 1.7″ × 1.2″

The main purpose of the Jrk G2 family is to enable feedback-based control of DC brushed motors, simplifying closed-loop control of things like the position of an actuator. An example that is probably familiar to most of us is the common hobby servo that has an output shaft that can rotate to various positions as commanded over a simple interface. The Jrk motor controllers can be used for giant versions of those servos, and they can also be used in many other systems as long as you can somehow get feedback in the form of an analog voltage or a frequency. Analog voltage feedback is often easy to get from potentiometers that can serve as angle or position sensors.

Building the Google Open Nsynth Super
Andrew Back

A Raspberry Pi and machine learning powered instrument for generating new unique sounds that exist between different sounds.
NSynth (Neural Synthesizer) is a machine learning or “AI” algorithm from Google and collaborators that uses a deep neural network to learn the characteristics of sounds, and then to create a completely new sound based on these. More than simply mixing sounds it actually creates an entirely new sound using the acoustic qualities of the original sounds.
Open NSynth Super is an experimental physical interface for NSynth that is based around a Raspberry Pi, custom PCB and a simple laser-cut enclosure. It comes provided with turnkey O/S images that bundle preconfigured software and firmware, along with sets of example sounds — meaning that you don’t have to go through the extremely resource-intensive process of generating audio files in order to start experimenting with the synthesizer.
The PCB design, microcontroller firmware, software and enclosure design are all published under open source licences, meaning that anyone is free to build their own Open NSynth Super.

How to Repair STL Files with 3 Free STL Repair Software Tools
Dibya Chakravorty

Nothing is more frustrating than a 3D model that won’t print. STL files need to be watertight, have the right wall thickness and be properly optimized in order to be printable. Even the most experienced 3D designer will sometimes leave unprintable defects in the model. So you need software to repair your STL files.
If you have a broken STL file, your Slicer software will often warn you about the defects. But in the worst case, the slicer won’t complain at all. You will start printing as usual, spend time and money, and eventually land up with a failed print.
Another common scenario is when you try to upload an STL file in an online 3D printing service like i.materialize or Sculpteo, but get an error message saying that the file size is too big. In this case, you are dealing with a bloated STL file.
So what do you do in these situations? How do you repair STL files to get a printable version?
In this article, we introduce you to the best free software that can check your STL file for errors and also repair STL files automatically to produce a printable version.

Bergen Makerspace Transportable 3D Printer
johnadiamond

This is a Cartesian style 3D printer based on the popular Open Source RepRap Prusa i3 design by Josef Prusa. Further inspiration for the design came from the Folger Tech RepRap 2020 Prusa i3 which uses 2020 aluminum extrusion as the primary framing material. The key difference with the design published in this Instructable is that it can be folded up for convenient storage and transportation. It's designed to fit snugly into a carrying case that provides excellent all round protection while being transported. A key goal of the design was to minimize the size of the carrying case while preserving the 200mm x 200mm x 175mm (8" x 8" x 7") build volume.
The construction involves the assembly of several sub-assemblies which are then interconnected to form the finished unit. It is recommended that the building of the frame assembly and the attaching of the sub-assemblies is carried out in the listed order.

Arduino’s Create online platform now supports Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone

Back in November 2017 Arduino announced that it's Arduino Create platform, that enables Makers and Design Engineers to Rapid Prototype and create IoT applications in one online environment, would expand its support to Linux Intel x86 Chips.
Opening up the Create platform to these Intel based devices introduced the support for Linux and gave users the opportunity to use higher performance devices in the same familiar Arduino environment.
The latest development announced at this weeks Embedded Linux conference 2018, has unveiled that Arduino Create, can now support other Linux based platforms based on Debian or Ubuntu. This includes popular single board computers like Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone, both of which are now featured on the Create Platform with an out-of-the-box experience and enables Arduino users with little or no knowledge to easily create IoT applications from scratch using Arduino Sketches and Libraries they are already familiar with.

Infento!

Infento offers transformable transportation for kids as they grow

Heidi Hoopes

Looking to both solve the problem of children quickly outgrowing their rides and give parent and child a fun project to create together, two Dutch inventors dreamed up Infento. The name, inspired by the Latin for "infinite makes," is a collection of creative ride-ons for ages 0-13. With just a hex key and a couple of hours, an adult and child can make a sledge, a recumbent bike, a trike with a cargo box, and more.
Previously we have seen designers take a variety of different approaches to allow a child's ride to grow with them, such as the Leg&Go, Wishbone Bike, Audi's Mini Runner and the Grow bikes. But these options pale in comparison to the extensive array of models offered by Infento. The different collections are simply arranged by age, with each larger kit including the previous parts and adding rides for older kids (up to age 13) and slightly fancier builds.
https://www.infentorides.com/

Multifunctional hand truck works as a wagon, bike trailer and more

C.C. Weiss
Hand trucks, wagons and mover's dollies are all handy tools with their own uses. Unless you have a regular need for each one, you probably don't want to devote the money and storage space needed to own all three, though. With the Erovr, you don't have to. This multifunctional gear hauler folds and snaps into all those tools and more, giving you numerous ways of rolling belongings around the home, driveway and beyond.
We're used to "e" standing for "electric" when it comes to wheeled vehicles of all sizes, but the Erovr has no electric motor power. Instead, the "E" stands for "Earth," the vision of the Erovr being a rover designed to help you explore Earth the way the Mars Rover explores Mars. While you'll have to provide all the muscle power, the Erovr still offers plenty of help in lugging heavy stuff around.

What is ezrobot?
ezrobot Revolution is a robotics platform that makes robots accessible to everyone. It features simple clip'n'play robot building blocks called EZ-Bits. The robots are user controlled or autonomous over a WiFi connection from your PC or Mobile Device (Android and iOS supported). ezrobot delivers easy-to-use features inspired from science fiction movies. Such as vision tracking & learning, mobile apps, speech recognition, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and hundreds more! The brain of your ezrobot is the EZ-B v4, which boasts 200mhz of 32-bit processing. ezrobot is used in robotics education programs and by customers all over the world. ezrobot Revolution introduces 3 robots to get started right away (JD, SIX, and ROLI).

Maravilha.
Visto no Experimentoria:

Concrete Metal Lathe
Confounded Machine
I've wanted a large CNC lathe for a long time...key ingredient to that being a large lathe. Unfortunately most places that sell these lathes want a large sum of money in exchange. After some searching on the internet it turns out one could build a lathe from scratch using concrete and scraps of steel. This is the process of me building such a machine. This lathe is designed to be built in the most rustic conditions using minimal tools, however I have access to some better fabrication tools so I used them to my advantage. With the said I'm confident that if I had to build this beast with a hacksaw and a hand drill it would certainly be possible!
