3D Printed Vacuum Cleaner for a CNC MachineNikus
As I started to use my Dremel CNC more often I noticed that after milling wood and MDF there is a lot of thin dust everywhere around. I also faced a problem with aluminum chips that got stuck in a lead screw, so I added a cover for the lead screws but I knew that the best solution would be attaching a vacuum cleaner to the machine. I have a really big and loud workshop vacuum cleaner that is way too powerful for this task. While I was scrolling through posts in Dremel CNC builders group on Facebook I noticed Jan's post about his 3D printed vacuum cleaner. I thought that it's a really cool idea to build a small vacuum cleaner that I can put next to my CNC machine and keep it on all the time when CNC is milling. So I opened Fusion 360 at 1 AM and 2 hours later my very own 3D printed vacuum cleaner was ready to be printed. Before you will start reading this instructable you have to know that this was more of like an experiment than a project, I had no idea if it will work, I just did a quick research on the internet to find out how cyclonic separation works and how vacuum cleaner turbine looks like. But I have to say that this project exceeded my expectations a lot!

G-Code Generator – All You Need to Know

David Pechter
These days, computer numerical control (CNC) machines range from 3D printers to lathes, mills, and engraving machines that use lasers, plasma, or water jets. Computer control manages tool movements, spindle speed and coolant flow for CNC lathes and mills, and extrusion and bed temperatures for 3D printers. Over time, a common computer language evolved for CNC: G-code.
G-code is the not-so-secret sauce that runs a 3D printer. Based on your STL model and your settings, your slicing program decides how to make your part. It takes into account layer thickness, infill percentage, support, adhesion, extrusion, and bed temperature to generate a G-code recipe for your part, which can be understood by your printer. Each motion of the printer is given, for example, to trace the perimeter, cross-hatch, or trace interior holes. Temperature control, extrusion, and retraction are also given in G-code.

Brutalmente porreiro!

3D Printer the C3Dt/bd (Big Delta)

Core3D

The C3Dt/bd is my latest 3D printer design and has been turning heads at various Maker Faires and most notably at the MidWest RepRap Festival 2019. It is large and and it is accurate and most importantly, most of it's parts are off the shelf. Following are some of the features of the C3Dt/bd:
  • Build Volume: 330mm(dia)x1240mm
  • Board: DuetWifi (24Volt)
  • Screen: Panel Due
  • Delta Smart Effector
  • BondTech Extruder
  • Flying extruder
  • Hot-end: E3D
  • Auto bed Leveling
  • BuildTak Flex Plate system (magnetic bed)
  • Built-in bed tensioning
  • Haydn Huntley’s Magball Delta arms
  • Easily detachable Flying extruder
  • 110volt heated bed
  • 6.8mm aluminum bed
  • Nema 23 stepper motors
  • Unique Cable Management
  • Board cooling fans
  • Parts cooling fan
  • 40mm fan bracket for heatsink (reduces noise)
Optional wheels in case you move it a lot
Fair warning, this is NOT a budget printer. Parts can easily run into to the thousands, but you do get one nicely working printer out of this. This being my first Delta, I was concerned about calibration and troubleshooting but I found that with the combination of parts/features above, the setup was child's play compared to some of the other printers I have designed.

Hello 🖐
We are Precious Plastic.
Precious Plastic is a global community of hundreds of people working towards a solution to plastic pollution. Knowledge, tools and techniques are shared online, for free. So everyone can start (yes, you too!).
We are independent, poor but free :)
Hundreds of people all over the world contribute to the project with their skills & knowledge, single or monthly donations.
Precious Plastic was started in 2013 by Dave Hakkens and is now at its third iteration (version) counting on dozens of people working on the project, remotely or on site (somewhere below sea level in the Netherlands).
Join the fight against plastic pollution.

Embossed Metal Artwork From a Pop Can
paigenoelle

While pop cans have a deposit in my state, other canned non-carbonated drinks like lemonade do not. The recycling center is a bit out of the way from me, so I wanted to give reusing these cans a try first. There’s a lot of flexibility in materials and methods in this project, so I’ve tried to highlight substitutions as best as possible.
Note: this project involves sharp edges and cutting tools. If you are looking for a project suitable for children, consider using aluminum foil as discussed in “Substitute Materials.”

The Rabbit Mill Desktop CNC
SourceRabbit
Sourcerabbit is the brand name we created back in 2012, when Nikos decided that building someone else's dream fell short of his ambitions. Our dream is to establish a high tech CNC lab, that will manufacture awesome products. This will become a reality if we meet our goal. We would love nothing more than to be able to hire a full time Product Designer who can enrich our "Things we make can make a Life" Designs library.
Our passion for CNC machines and the need to create a fun and engaging work environment quickly united us to get to this first milestone: Indiegogo pre sales.
We both come from families who value building and restoring things, rather than buying new ones. Grandpa Siatras, a master craftsman, is the mentor of our Engineering skills, and built single handed the lab we work in.
The main reason we are here is to validate our work. We have created an affordable and easy to use machine, but only you can make it meaningful.
As we are looking to expand, ordering parts at scale will help us keep the price levels we want.
A successful campaign will give us the energy to continue our R&D, which includes the HTML5 application www.cncwebtools.com and our latest hardware blueprints.

NASA releases 3D-printable models to the public

David Szondy

If you have access to a 3D printer, then you can build your own space fleet courtesy of NASA – provided you don’t mind spacecraft that are plastic and four inches long. As part of its continuing program of education and outreach, the space agency has released 22 printable models of NASA and European space probes, asteroids, and planetary landscapes for the hobbyist and space enthusiast.

The 3D models are available from the NASA website for free and are printable on any desktop 3D printer using plastic filaments. It’s the latest in a long tradition of NASA science, technology artwork made available to the public going back to its founding in 1958.

How to Separate Strong Magnets

Neodymium magnets are strong. Really strong. If you have never handled neodymium magnets before, you will be surprised at their remarkable strength. They're not the ceramic magnets you find at craft stores.

Whether talking about relatively small magnets like 1/4" diameter D41 discs, or monstrously big block magnets like our BX8X8X8, separating these magnets can prove challenging to those without experience.

Here, we share some of our strategies and tips for separating strong neodymium magnets.
The Basic Idea

Neodymium magnets pull towards each other with a strong force. If you try pulling two magnets directly apart, you need quite a bit of force to pull them apart. To separate one magnet from another, you'll need to pull with a force equal to the listed Pull Force Case 1 number.

This can be difficult if the magnet is strong, or if there isn't much area to grab onto the magnet. Most methods of separating these magnets do two things:
They provide more leverage and/or a better way to grip the magnets
They move the magnets apart laterally (sideways), which requires less force
