Engenhocas ajudam o Mundo!

50+ Global Issues Makers Can Solve
Michelle "Binka" Hlubinka

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab—along with USAID’s Global Development Lab, The Lemelson Foundation, The Schmidt Family Foundation, Dalberg Global Development Advisors, The Good Company and OMG—has put together a list of challenges primed for Makers to solve. They call these “Top 50 Game-Changing Technologies for Defeating Global Poverty.” These are summarized in a 20-page list, and then fully explored in the full 600-page report. They shared this list “because the problems we all seek to address require urgent action,” and they invite the problem-solvers of the world (you, dear readers!) to “begin the conversation.”

Cast Thermite
Zlwilly
There are plenty of Instructables and other how-to's on making Thermite, the incendiary mixture that can not only raise, but also burn, eyebrows. (The concept for this Instructable came from 'the Anarchists Cookbook', and since it doesn't give many details...here's how I do it.) Now, there's nothing wrong with powdered forms of Thermite, that's how I got started a few years back, but sometimes you just want something rock solid that burns nice and bright/hot.

That's where Cast Thermite comes in. And the best part is, If you have some thermite on hand already, it's pretty easy to make! If you don't, never fear, for I will be starting at the beginning with nothing but the raw materials.

Box-i4Pro, the small cheap computer in a cube
Lara Lopes
You’re probably pretty familiar with the success of the likes of the Rasberry Pi and Arduino boards, tiny little computers packed onto a single bare board lapped up by digital enthusiasts and hobbyists. Well, the CuBox-i4Pro is not all that different except it’s packed nicely into a case and this small cheap computer in a cube not only packs quite a bit of power it comes at an incredibly reasonable price.
It’s created by Israeli startup SolidRun who created the first Cubox back in 2013 and we’re now on version i4Pro. The cube measures just 2.17” (55 mm) in width, length and height and packs Bluetooth and Wifi capability. The system comes with Android pre-loaded on a 4GB micro SD card and can also run Debian Linux.

Reparar rodas dentadas?

Broken Gear Repair
Fab Muchada

Simple way to fix broken gear
you need a plastic steel epoxy, Popsicle stick, any mixing medium for your epoxy mixture and brush and detergent soap or dish washing liquid.

Duas dicas de Fernando Mattoso Lemos, 2 Adaptadores que unem o Arduino ao Raspberry Pi;

RasPiO Duino Affordable Arduino Programming On Raspberry Pi

Alex Eames

I want to get you into the wonderful world of Arduino programming, using your Raspberry Pi as the programmer. There's so much you can do with the ATMEGA 328 microcontroller - it complements the Pi perfectly and for many applications it doesn't even need to be connected to the Pi, once it's programmed. So I've designed the RasPiO Duino, which...
  • Has a capable microcontroller: ATMEGA328P. 32KB flash. 20MHz
  • 6 analog inputs for reading sensors (light, temperature,  pressure etc.)
  • 14 digital input/output pins for controlling and switching things
  • 6 PWM outputs for variable LED brightness or motor speed control
  • Can control up to 12 servos
  • Can exchange the microcontroller as it is socketed
  • Fits on the GPIO header and is programmed directly from a Raspberry Pi
  • Uses the Arduino Integrated Development Environment for programming
  • Is very keenly priced

Arduberry: Raspberry Pi and Arduino for the Rest of Us

Students, hackers, tinkerers unite!  The Arduberry is the shield you’ve been waiting for.  The Arduberry connects the Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
We love Arduino and we love Raspberry Pi.  We thought they should be together.  The Arduberry marries the Raspberry Pi and the Arduino.  Simple, elegant: all you need and nothing you don’t.

How to Build a Portuguese Wood Fired Brick Pizza Oven
grillsnovensllc

Welcome!
In this instructable we will describe how to build a real Portuguese brick pizza oven.
Portuguese ovens are characterized by higher dome than the Italian / Neapolitan ovens. What this means in practice is less intense heat. In all of these ovens the heat is reflected from the dome back onto the cooking floor and the lower the dome the higher the heat. While the Italian pizza ovens are made primarily for pizza (they cook other foods too, but most people buy them for pizza) the Portuguese ovens are made with cooking a variety of foods in mind: slow roasts, lasagnas, bread etc. For all of these you will need less heat than for pizza and hence a Portguese ovens can come in handy.

Center finder
mobilow

I love tools and every now and then I also love tools to make live easier. This one is based on a one time tool from woodpeckers but not available anymore. So I decided to made one by myself using my 3D FDM printer.
Its a handy tool to mark the centre of a workpiece, just place the two legs around your piece and mark a line or point or draw a line with a pen trough one of the holes in the middle bar. Due to the parallelogram, the center is always found automatically.

Voltera’s Circuit Printer Launches on Kickstarter, Smashes Goal in Minutes
Mike Senese

The Voltera V-One circuit printer, one of our favorite finds at CES this year, just launched its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter — and hit $100,000 in 35 minutes.
The Voltera system provides multiple capabilities: It will print the traces for your prototype circuit board (at 8mil space and trace), dispense solder paste to allow you to place SMD components on professionally manufactured boards, and provide heat for reflowing those electronics onto boards. And it prints multiple layers with a transparent ink.

Man 3D prints support-less curved lego blocks; builds Naaldwijk Water Tower

Kira

The of classic cubed shape of a Lego construction is timeless and instantly recognizable, yet it does create some limitations, particularly if the object you are trying to build is known for its smooth curves. Thankfully, curved Lego has arrived thanks to Netherlands-based 3D print designer Jan Jurjen Zwaard.

After attempting to 3D print curved Lego using an existing model designed by Steve Medwin on Thingiverse, Zwaard ran into some complications. “When I printed it, I found out that I wasn’t able to remove the supports very well,” he explained to 3ders.org. “Since I know how to use Solidworks, I was able to create a model myself in such a way that I didn’t need the supports.” After designing a few different sized models, Zwaard was able to successfully print his own modified, interlocking building blocks.

Who are we?
This website endeavor was started in late 2006 with a passion for building DIY CNC machines and sharing the knowledge so others can benefit. The main purpose of this website (the mission) is to offer free to low cost solution to provide automated fabrication to hobbyists. The products on this website are the hard to find parts that match (fit and function) the common level of the machines on this website and of the general DIY CNC machines found on the internet. We have a passion for designing these machines and products necessary for the easy assembly of these machines with explanations and tutorials with easy to read instructions. The customers and users of this website have made hundreds of suggestions and I have received more than 4000 testimonials. The individuals out in the world that actually built the machines on this website is vast and these responses encourage the updates and tutorials to spread the knowledge of CNC Machines and related technologies.

OwnFone launches custom 3D printable mobile phone on Kickstarter

A simple phone that will only allow you to contact a handful of people, and that won’t let you surf the web every five minutes? What’s the appeal of that? It might not seem like much to today’s teenagers, but if you stop to think about the advantages the OwnFone offers, you’ll be surprised about how useful it actually is.
Launched in 2011 by the English designer Thom Sunderland, the OwnFone is a deviously clever and surprisingly single concept. These 3D printed phones are approximately the size of a credit card, and feature a set number of numbers it can dial, like a child's parents, health care workers and the emergency number. Each button has been programmed to phone the person mentioned on it (the 'mom' button only phones your mom), and can even be modified to feature braille, rather than letters.

Jules Verne Needed This Gorgeous Steampunk 3D Printer
Jeremy Cook
3D printers and steampunk don’t generally go together (feel free to correct me on this), but for some reason this one fits in quite nicely. It’s based on a Printrbot Go, which is built into an unstained folding wooden case. John decided to stain this case, and after adding a few bumpers, the closed 3D printer looks like something out of the 1800s… That is unless you’re looking at the LCD display in the upper-left corner of the box.
Although he never removed the LCD display, (As John points out in the comments below, the LCD was an upgrade, the GO did not come with one)John did replace the bluish one that came with it with an amber-colored display. It still might not pass inspection before the age of transistors, but it does at least fit the color scheme. To compliment, and perhaps distract from, the LCD, analog temperature and humidity dials were added on the opposite side of the enclosure. This decision was justified by the fact that these variables could affect print performance.

Fix Loose Eyeglasses with a Rubber Band
zimitt

This instructable is for an almost free fix to an extremely annoying problem of loose glasses.
No, its not a rubber band around the back of your head. ::-)
I like to wear vintage eyeglasses and often they will be stretched out and end up further down my nose than I'd like, often when my hands are too busy to push them back up.
A lot of the newer frames have great spring loaded hinges that will alleviate the problem. What can I say, I love the classics, and the challenge of restoring a great pair of old spectacles.

Design Guidelines for 3D Printing

Taking a design from screen into being can be a complicated process, but it doesn’t have to be!
With our eBook Design Guidelines for 3D Printing, you have all of the information you could need when it comes to designing a model for 3D printing. With the help of our in-house design team and our production gurus, this eBook covers everything from design best practices to Sculpteo’s online repair tools to the physical limitations of the printing process.
Each of Sculpteo’s 7 materials are covered individually, with an at-a-glance style reference for you or your company’s 3D designers. With that information, you can quickly account for important design factors such as minimum clearances, file size and material strength as you choose the optimal material for your project.
We’ve also included two ’Bonus’ pages which you’ll want to keep by your side if you’re planning on uploading a file to Sculpteo or completing an FDM print. These bonus pages are a sort of checklist which will ensure that your model is ready for a flawless upload.

Raspberry Pi 2 on sale now at $35
Eben Upton

Let’s get the good stuff out of the way above the fold. Raspberry Pi 2 is now on sale for $35 (the same price as the existing Model B+), featuring:
  • A 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU (~6x performance)
  • 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM (2x memory)
  • Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1
Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10.
...
Raspberry Pi 2 is available to buy today from our partners element14 and RS Components. Remember you’ll need an updated NOOBS or Raspbian image including an ARMv7 kernel and modules from our downloads page. At launch, we are using the same ARMv6 Raspbian userland on both Raspberry Pi 1 and 2; over the next few months we will investigate whether we can obtain higher performance from regular ARMv7 Debian, or whether we can selectively replace a small number of libraries to get the best of both worlds. Now that we’re using an ARMv7 core, we can also run Ubuntu: a Snappy Ubuntu Core image is available now and a package for NOOBS will be available in the next couple of weeks.

MiniMetalMaker - 3D print with metal clay

The Mini Metal Maker is very exciting to me because it is a unique combination of an artistic material with the field of 3D printing. The Mini Metal Maker prints 3D objects from digital files directly in metal clay, rather than in plastic.  Once these clay objects air-dry, they are fired in a kiln to produce beautiful solid metal objects of high purity and precision.  Using metal clay essentially replaces the entire wax-casting or lost-wax process ordinarily needed to do this. The Mini Metal Maker will add new capability for the DIY inventor or artist by making fabrication in metal easy and direct.  It will be a boon for anyone interested in creating their own gears, miniature mechanisms, or printing detailed jewelry or metal ornaments.  The Mini Metal Maker is built around the concept of using the minimum number of parts,  reducing the cost to produce and also eliminating many chances for error during assembly.

3D Printing, Make this Man’s Lightweight Bike a Reality!
Andrew Wheeler

Matt Clark from San Marino, California has designed a plastic bicycle, called the Innerframe, to prove that bicycle production could be greatly improved and streamlined using specific materials and methods to improve quality and significantly lower costs.  Though it is not 3D printed, the Innerframe features an extremely rigid, lightweight construction that Matt believes would be highly conducive to 3D printing.
Matt has been working on this design since 2008, and he’s starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. While the goal of Matt’s original prototype in 2008 was to produce a seamless, rigid design impossible to accomplish using traditional bike manufacturing methods, the recent development of 3D printing may change that. Matt imagines 3D printing the bike vertically, producing the interior as well as the surface exterior at the same time.
