A empresa, Mud Cycles, dedica-se à construção de bicicletas, «com formas e estética únicas, e executadas numa combinação de peças recuperadas com outras manufacturadas de raiz». Ana Clara; Fotos - João Baptista | sexta-feira, 16 de Janeiro de 2015 A aventura de lançar a Mud Cycles nasceu em 2011, na altura, um projecto virado para o restauro de mobiletes e bicicletas antigas. À medida que a empresa foi evoluindo, explica João Baptista, foi abandonando os restauros para se «dedicar exclusivamente à criação de produtos originais. Sempre achei o processo criativo bastante mais motivador do que o simples restauro de objectos antigos»», diz. A construção de bicicletas de madeira foi uma aposta que surgiu em 2013. E explica por que decidiu encetar este negócio: «sempre adorei trabalhar em madeira e achei um desafio muito interessante aliar isso à minha paixão pelas duas rodas».

3D Printing, Make this Man’s Lightweight Bike a Reality!Andrew WheelerMatt Clark from San Marino, California has designed a plastic bicycle, called the Innerframe, to prove that bicycle production could be greatly improved and streamlined using specific materials and methods to improve quality and significantly lower costs. Though it is not 3D printed, the Innerframe features an extremely rigid, lightweight construction that Matt believes would be highly conducive to 3D printing.Matt has been working on this design since 2008, and he’s starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. While the goal of Matt’s original prototype in 2008 was to produce a seamless, rigid design impossible to accomplish using traditional bike manufacturing methods, the recent development of 3D printing may change that. Matt imagines 3D printing the bike vertically, producing the interior as well as the surface exterior at the same time.
