DIY Power Tool Storage W/ Charging Station
SEB TECH DIY

Let's build this awesome power tool wall storage system. I had to organize my power tools in my shop, and decided to design and build this wall storage unit. This woodworking project is pretty simple to make, all made from plywood and 1 piece of pegboard. You can also add some stain and varnish for a final touch. I used imperial unit for this build but you can find all the metric dimensions below. Also, i added for FREE my SketchUp model, feel free to download it and modify it to yours needs. Happy Building ! :)

Mas um brinquedo, muito divetido!

3D Printable Airsoft Gun
Engineer777

PURPOSE
When 3D printers started to dramatically drop in price and were thrust onto the commercial market, I was immediately hooked. This is every engineer's dream come true! The storm of cool printable products really hasn't developed as I expected however. Most people were, and still are, only printing little sculptures and vases. In terms of pushing this technology to its potential, we're not off to a great start! I came to the conclusion that it is not a lack of vision that is limiting the use of these desktop printers, but a lack of designs. People would print more awesome things if there were more awesome things to print. So I put two and two together and started designing this printable airsoft gun. It's the start of many designs I hope to produce for people who really want more than just a vase from their printers. I hope it will inspire you to get your creative mind in gear and contribute some awesome designs for a 3D printable future!

Build Your Own Storage Shed!
NathanaelScheffler

Hello Instructables! This is my entry into the Shopbot Contest. This Instructable will show you the steps to building your own shed. We decided that our shed would be for storage because we wanted to get some stuff out of the garage so we can use it as a shop. One of the challenges of building a shed in our backyard was that the ground was sloped in the area that we wanted to put it, so we had to find a way to get around that. Another was that we are building beside some well established trees, and we didn't want to harm their root structure. This is why we went with cinderblock and mortar rather than poured concrete.

Porreiro.

Open Source 3D Printed Clip-On Microscope For Smartphones
Anne Freier

This is an open source design for a smartphone camera microscope which can be customized, downloaded and 3D printed.
A team of researchers at RMIT University in Australia have developed a 3D printable clip-on microscope for smartphones. The design of the microscope has been shared on the Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics website.
Led by Anthony Orth, a research officer at the centre at RMIT University, the device has been developed to allow anyone, from students to medical staff to people at home, to take a closer look at things invisible to the naked eye.
The solution also means that the microscope can be used in situations where laboratory equipment may not be available. This could be hugely beneficial for application in less developed countries to help detect malaria or other blood borne parasites.
Orth explains in a post for The Conversation:
“What we’re hoping is that our design, or something like it, gets used for ultra simple, cheap and robust mobile phone based devices – be it for medical diagnostics in underserved areas such as the remote Australian outback and central Africa, or monitoring microorganism populations in local water sources.”
The researchers are also hoping that the final design can be optimized further to suit different people’s needs.

Aveiro!

Brake Drum Forge
Straklin

My brother (Bigdaddycole) and I have been talking about building a forge for some time. We finally found some time over the last few weekends and put this together. We used a lot of stuff we had in house, so it was a cheap build. Please comment if you have suggestions or improvements. We have also entered this in the "On a Budget" contest, so if you like it please vote. We hope you like this build!
DISCLAIMER: When using an angle grinder, make sure you use eye protection and gloves. Also make sure you are working in an area free from combustible material. It throws off a lot of sparks and hot metal. Know how to use your tools safely! Be safe, and have fun!

A Low Cost Educational Atomic Force Microscope

Microscopes are awesome! They help us see things that are not visible to bare eyes. Optical microscopes can only see micro scale (1/1,000 millimeter) structures. However, you can explore nano scale (1/1,000,000 millimeter) world by Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM). Yet a stock-ready AFM usually costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy. Thus we are providing you a solution to make your own AFM optomechanical system out of daily used parts including optical pickup unit (OPU) in a DVD player and piezo buzzers in your watch. The total cost is between 500 to 1,000 dollars. Most of the traditional AFM systems use beam deflection method for monitoring the AFM probe, the low cost educational AFM directly use an OPU for the same purpose. This low cost educational AFM is originally designed and made by Dr. En-Te Hwu, Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. Idea of using circuit boards as structure: Sebastian Buetefisch.

10 Tips and Tricks for Laser Engraving and Cutting
geordie_h
Hello, I'm Geordie and I currently work at ADX Portland running the Laser Cutter and Engraver. My job is to take in customer's projects, set them up and run them on the laser. As a result, I've learned a few tricks for how to set up jobs to get the best results, and in this Instructable I'm going to pass them on to you.
The laser I work with is an Epilog Helix and the program we use to run it is Corel Draw. I'm going to try to write in general terms so you can use what ever laser and program you want to.
Note: For several of these tips it is important to understand the difference between Vector files and Bitmap files. Vector files are mathematical formulas defining lines, circles etc. These are created by programs like Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, AutoCAD and Corel. Bitmap files are collections of individual pixels. This included digital photos, Adobe Photoshop files, JPGs etc. With the Epilog laser (and I'm assuming other ones) you can only cut with a vector file. You can engrave with either vector or bitmap files. For several of my tricks you need your file to be a vector file for the trick to work.

QU-BD One Up: A 3D printer for under US$200

Darren Quick

The home 3D printing revolution has picked up pace in recent times with printers such as the MakiBox and Buccaneer making 3D printing increasingly more affordable. Although not as cheap as the homemade LEGObot, the QU-BD One Up is claiming the title of the world's cheapest production-ready 3D printer with a price tag of under US$200.
Already manufacturing and supplying parts for more than 20 3D printer companies, such as DeltaMaker, the folks at QU-BD took the next obvious step and decided to produce their own 3D printers. Joining the company's existing Revolution, Revolution XL and RPM Rapid Prototyping Mill are the One Up and Two Up units that boast a build area of 100 x 100 x 125 mm and 175 x 175 x 125 mm, respectively.

Snap-fit plexiglas case for your project

Months ago I've built a thermostat to control my electric oven temperature (and cook meringues).
You can read the related instructable here.
Meringues are still waiting, but now my device has a new plexiglas case, with snap-fit joints and hexagonal grill for the ventilation.
I designed the box in Autocad with the right measures to contain the thermostat and all the components required to be connected to wall plug and oven.

Tendo dito isto...
MUÁHÁHÁHÁ!

Pocket-sized Multicolored Flamethrowers and Sorcerer Staff

In case no one told you flamethrowers are really dangerous. This is NOT an instructable for kids! This is for educational purposes and if you attempt this you are doing so at your own risk. I am not responsible if you get hurt attempting this. The responsibility for your safety depends on you! I try to discuss how to do this safely throughout the instructable so, READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY, but realize I can't think of every safety problem. HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY! If you do not have a high level of understanding of the chemistry or physics involved you really should not do this.

That said, science and learning without danger would yield no cars, no fireworks, and no disease cures. So, I'm going to donate my body to some dangerous science!

HOW TO MAKE A MICROSCOPE FROM A NORMAL CAMERA

Bismillah,Have you ever tried to take a close look of a plant or an ant? Though magnification glasses are able to do a little of magnification but they are not very close but now I am here with a hack which can easily penetrate your clothes or even you can see an ant’s eye structure because it’s a microscope out of a simple camera or webcam. Isn’t it Great! All you need is a simple but good picture quality camera or webcam. This Is very cheap project and even can be made from stuff around your house. So you must read it step by step to remake it the proper way. It is easy to make and any one can build without any specific skill. So get ready to make your own.And thank you for reading. If you want to stay tuned to me follow me and please vote for me in the Build my lab contest and Hardware hack contest that will be a great favor.

LiquidRoam RoamBoards ready for sale
By Paul Ridden
Motorized two-wheeled and three-wheeled personal transport innovations like the Solowheel and the cheap and cheerful Solaron certainly look like a fun way to get around, but if it's four-wheeled action you're looking for then the new RoamBoard is definitely worth a look. The result of two years of designing, building, testing and tweaking, this stand up transportation solution brings together technologies seen in the electric skateboard, bicycle, snowboard, and automotive industries and merges them into a land-surfing motorized skateboard.

Cheap, portable microscope uses holograms instead of lenses
By Ben Coxworth
While financial contributions are certainly a great help to health care practitioners in developing nations, one of the things that they really need is rugged, portable, low-cost medical equipment that is compatible with an often-limited local infrastructure. Several such devices are currently under development, such as a battery-powered surgical lamp, a salad-spinner-based centrifuge, and a baby-warmer that utilizes wax. UCLA is now working on another appropriate technology in the form of a small, inexpensive microscope that uses holograms instead of lenses to image what can't be seen by the human eye.
