Instructables à brava!

Um Candelabro de LEDs:

LED Chandelier

I built a few cool projects I found on Instructables.com and now it's time for me to contribute.  This is a LED chandelier that I made using Christmas LED string lights.  It not difficult to make but it takes some time.  I think it's totally worth it and the end product look awesome!

So this Lazy Old Geek purchased a Laser Cross. I created a manual leveling Laser Cross to use for aligning stuff on my drill press:

Tomem lá Ciência, um Trans-Iluminador de Ultra-Violetas, para o  vosso Laboratório de Biologoa Molecular, e sabe-se lá o que mais:

UV Transilluminator

UV-transilluminators are used in molecular biology labs to view DNA (or RNA) that has been separated by electrophoresis through an agarose gel. During or immediately after electrophoresis, the agarose gel is stained with a fluorescent dye which binds to nucleic acid. Exposing the stained gel to a UVB light source causes the DNA/dye to fluoresce and become visible. This technique is used wherever the researcher needs to be able to view their sample, for example sizing a PCR product, purifying DNA segment after a restriction enzyme digest, quantifying DNA or verifying RNA integrity after extraction.

'Amplify' : Radio Hack.

Amplify’ is a revolutionary device that allows you to turn your guitar amplifier, into a radio in seconds! Whether you’re a guitar nut, roadie, or just fancy a change from your typical radio to get the traffic reports, Amplify is perfect. It’s small enough to throw in your bag, and elegant in its own retro way so as not to spoil the classic look of your beloved guitar amp.

Getting started in DIY electronics September 2
Victorian synthesizers, laser microphones, and space explorers

If you haven’t had any sort of training in electronics, it can be a daunting world to get started in. It’s no use having someone talk about what you can do with an Arduino if you haven’t first been shown the basics of how circuits work, or say, what you can do with just a battery and a speaker. I have a little experience teaching electronics to absolute beginners, so I’m always on the lookout for resources. I invariably start by pointing people to Handmade Electronic Music by Nic Collins, a book which has spawned hundreds of DIY electronics enthusiasts, many of whom share their progress on the web. Ponoko é do caneco!

DIY synth making workshop
Rich Decibels teams up with Bleep Labs to present a series of DIY electronic audio workshops

For some time now I’ve had an interest in teaching people about electronics, recruiting for the maker army. I’ve found audio projects a great place for people to start learning.

I’ve just announced over on my website that I’m running another series of DIY synth making workshops in Wellington. If you’re interested pop over and have a look at the details.

If you’re interested in this stuff but not a Wellington local, check out the amazing gear available over at Bleep Labs or enjoy this tantalising video demonstration.

PaperPunk
Paper building blocks for your imagination

Grace Hawthorne is no stranger to fueling creativity and firing up the imagination. She may already be familiar to fans of ReadyMade, and thanks to her latest Kickstarter campaign, a whole new playful and creative juggernaut is about to be unleashed.

Paper Punk is a system of patterns that are supplied pre-cut from cool retro-futuristic printed stock, and after a few simple folds they become building blocks that can be used to create toys, art objects and more.

Each set comes with patterns in gorgeous complementary colours, posters and instructions, and a plethora of quirky stickers to add character and individuality to your constructions.
Consider Paper Punk as building blocks for your imagination…
it is a creativity tool that’s as much of and art form as it is a toy;
What I love most about Paper Punk is that it’s beautiful and fun!

Follow the link for a short clip where Grace runs us through what it’s all about.

Graphene integrated circuit is a first

IBM researchers have made the first graphene circuit in which all of the circuit elements are integrated on a compact single chip. The new circuit is another important step forward for graphene-based electronics and potential applications include wireless communications and amplifiers.

Despite much progress in recent years and the fact that scientists have already made some high-performance graphene-based devices, it still remains challenging to integrate graphene transistors with other components on a single chip. This is mainly because graphene does not adhere very well to the metals and oxides traditionally used in semiconductor-manufacturing processes and because there are no reliable and reproducible techniques yet to make such circuits.
Integrated inductors

Now, Phaedon Avouris and colleagues at IBM's T J Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, may have overcome this problem with their new integrated circuit that consists of a graphene transistor and a pair of inductors compactly integrated on a silicon carbide (SiC) wafer. The wafer-scale fabrication process the team developed is compatible with conventional semiconductor-fabrication methods and can be used to produce circuits in high yields.

Electical What, Electrónica para todos

WHAT IS ELECTRICALWHAT?!

The image based search provided by ElectricalWhat simplifies searching and researching electronic symbols. ElectricalWhat aggregates electronics symbols into an easily accessible, free and open resource. ElectricalWhat is committed to communal sharing of knowledge and building a richer public domain by providing all content under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License.

MIDI do caneco!

Gimme a Sammich! August 4

SammichSID is the “no excuses” MIDIbox SID synthesizer kit designed in Melbourne by Jason Williams.

sammichSID Low-Down

sammichSID was designed to be the “no excuses” MIDIbox SID synthesizer kit - i.e. for all those people who want a MIDIbox SID but consider building it with modules too time-consuming, too newbie-unfriendly and/or too hard to design and construct a control surface, and where MB-6582 is too expensive, too daunting and/or too hard to source all the parts.
sammichSID therefore has the following design constraints/features, which support each other:
-cheap
-small
-DIY newbie friendly
-minimal control surface
-single “walwart”/AC adapter supply, no C64 PSU brick!
-stereo SID, optimized for 8580/6582A, 6581 optionally supported
-“sandwich-style” stacked PCB design, no wires!
-laser-cut 3mm acrylic case by Ponoko, customization possible
-industry standard 2×20 character LCD with low-power LED backlight, -customization possible
-common control surface parts used, customization possible
-To be available as a complete kit, including PCBs, components, case, hardware and (optionally) two 6582A SIDs!
 Vão lá ver:
