 I wanted to produce a vacuum forming machine that would allow me to do small parts, just for experimenting. I wanted to go for a self-contained unit with its own heater and vacuum pump. I know you can do a lot with an oven and vacuum cleaner, but my challenge was to do something neater than that, a self-contained machine.
I won’t go into how vac forming works, because there are plenty of explanations on the internet. But the main concerns are to hold the plastic sheet, to heat it, to hold it on an airtight moulding table (platen) and to reduce the air pressure to make the moulding. In short, the heater softens the plastic sheet that is held in the frame. Then the frame is lowered onto the platen, where the object is. The vacuum pump underneath then draws out the air under the sheet so that the plastic forms the shape of the object; it cools and the job is done.

Casio Mofrel 2.5D printer makes realistic fabric and leather samples

Casio is the latest company to showcase a cool new technology at Japan’s CEATEC event. The company recently demonstrated Mofrel 2.5D printing, an almost-3D printer that can produce materials with a texture like that of leather or fabrics. With this technology, sheets of textured ‘leather’ and ‘fabrics’ can be printed on-demand with various designs, then colored through a separate printing process.
Whereas 3D printers produce objects layer by layer out of plastics, Casio’s 2.5D printer is able to print very thin layers onto sheets of paper. These layers mimic the texture of materials, giving designers a fast on-demand way to test out a design, including getting a real-world feel of it, before creating actual samples with actual materials.

Making a 3-D Printed Mold

I recently had a project where I needed to create a couple dozen identical foam ear shapes.  Casting from a mold is the clear solution here.  However, the ears needed to fit onto an existing product, so I knew some tweaking of the design would be necessary to get it right before I could make the dozens. I was able to use Instructables' Objet Connex printers to make my molds, based on CAD drawings I made, and after a couple tweaks I got the design right and was able to make the full run.
In this Instructable I'll share what I learned about how to draw a CAD for a mold and 3D printing it out. I will assume you have access to and moderate proficiency with a CAD system (it doesn't matter what kind). For the printing, if you want to make your own but don't have access to a 3D printer, there are many services which print for a fee, or Instructables may be able to do that for you. The actual casting I will leave out as I was using an expanding polyurethane foam, which is not a generally applicable material.

I love making projects from scratch whenever possible, so soldering comes in the process.But soldering needs to be done in a well-ventilated Environment or a Fume Extractor should be used.
But Why is soldering so dangerous?
Flux generates the visible fumes seen during soldering. Exposure to rosin can cause eye, throat and lung irritation, nose bleeds and headaches. Repeated exposure can cause respiratory and skin sensitisation, causing and aggravating asthma. Rosin is a serious occupational health hazard.

Purdue University’s researchers in Indiana have collaborated with the National Science Foundation to start an innovative platform that enables your smartphone to assist in 3D printing, allowing you to create some unique designs. This new platform is known as Makerpad – an inventive and advanced platform specifically for beginners. The patents of this platform are presently pending by the Purdue Research Foundation’s Office of Technology Commercialization.
Karthik Ramani, project leader of this venture said that manufacturing and product design are the purviews of professionals and enterprises like artists and engineers. On the other hand, Donald W. Feddersen, a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University explained that many people have ideas but only a few of them have guts to implement those ideas into a reality. This is actually a waste of available creative human resources and the economic prospects of the world economy.
This platform can even be used by amateur users to create 3D prints, 3D scans, 3D models and laser cuts. With the network accessibility and free technology available, anyone can easily attempt to become a designer. However, 3D printing involves some fundamental skills as well as tools. Hence, many designers are simply not capable of using 3D printing technology effectively. But with the help of this platform, “Makerpad,” users can now easily 3D print several designs.

Hand+Ink Letterpress in Aluminum

I recently had some time to revisit my mini letterpress project. After using the earlier design for awhile, I wanted to redesign the press to eliminate all 3D printed parts and make it out of metal for increased strength. This press can be made out of MDF or Aluminum with a few quick dimension changes. The files attached are for 5mm thick aluminium sheet. Almost of of the parts can be cut with a laser cutter/waterjet/cnc, although I did use a lathe to make the wood handles and the top cross bar. All dimensions are in mm since I have recently moved to Sweden.

5 Gallon Bucket Air Conditioner

Hey there,
The following instructable is going to show my take on the 5 Gallon Bucket Air Conditioner/Swamp Cooler. In the picture you'll notice a small solar panel attached. I'll be creating another instructable on how to hook up a solar panel to a USB cable so you'll be able to power your bucket with solar energy. For now, this will just be about how to build an efficient bucket that actually works.
In contrast to the viral video on Youtube of the guy that built the original swap bucket, I've made a few changes to the design to make it more practical. I noticed when I first built the bucket exactly like the guy on Youtube, the ice would melt extremely fast due to the high powered fan pushing a lot of hot air past the ice. Also, a 5 gallon bucket full of ice does not provide enough of a temperature drop to cool entire rooms. And then there’s the mess that the ice leaves behind. In order to achieve maximum effectiveness, the cold air inside the bucket needed to be concentrated and aimed.

I wanted it to keep it as small as possible for those of you that don't have much space or your car and tools share the same place. It has wheels so it can be moved by only one person and you can even carry it in your car with a little help to get it in, of course. As you can see it has 3 functions. Saw table, Router and Scroll Saw. Also it has a big cabinet you can use to carry some of your tools with you.
