Gorilla Glass maker unveils ultra-thin and flexible Willow Glass
By Adam WilliamsCorning announced details of a major new glass design at the eighth annual Display Week in Boston, a trade event hosted by the Society for Information Display. Named Willow Glass, Corning’s new glass is manufactured in such a way that allows it to reach temperatures of up to 500°C (932ºF) while maintaining a thickness of just 100 microns – or about that of a sheet of paper. The company's Gorilla Glass was first brought into being to meet Steve Jobs' need for a hard-wearing glass screen for the original iPhone, and has since appeared on smartphones from almost every major manufacturer, in addition to a host of tablets and televisions. Therefore, any new innovation claimed by Corning will be sure to grab the close attention of interested parties such as Apple, Nokia and Samsung.
E como estes gajos são porreiros, cá vai o relato das suas mais recentes aventuras na Maker Faire:
New apps, new booth, new products, new friends — recap of Maker Faire Bay Area 2012
It was our fourth year at Maker Faire, and we really stepped up our game.
We took center stage to announce the next big thing in the new industrial revolution: Apps for the Maker Movement.
We revealed 4 new apps in the Personal Factory App Gateway, all powered by the Personal Factory API.
We also had a brand new booth design showcasing our apps and displaying super cool app-created products:
• 3D printed models of molecules created with MadeSolid
• 3D printed and lasercut robot created with Autodesk123D
• Waterjet cut custom car part created with Local Motors Fab Shop

E junto-lhe esta do SeeMeCNC, a ùltima versão do seu Modelo H-1:
From the guys who brought you the worlds FIRST injection molded, low-cost, open-source 3D printer.
Watch the H1 in action on Ustream. We will be posting announcements during this campaign when we will be print LIVE with the new H1.1
SeeMeCNC is back, with an updated version of our H-1 3D printers
Building upon our first version of the open-source Huxley, the H-1, we have re-designed many of the more difficult parts of building and adjusting our machines to make it easier and faster to assemble. We have also improved the bearing design of the origional reprap Huxley, from which the H in our machines name came from. We have re-designed the bearing assemblies on all axes to use bronze linear bushings instead of the more complicated and sometimes frustrating triple plastic bearings of the origional. Along with the new design improvements, we have listened to what a lot of people were saying, and offer the awesome RAMPS 1.4 boards by Ultimachine. The RAMPS setup is for those who want a dedicated 3D printer control solution.
