Eis a Entrevista que me foi feita pelo nosso amigo Jon Cantin, para o seu Blogue, depois do lançamento dos Planos para a Espingarda Nerf.
Já agora, mostro-a, em parte, aqui:
Edgar Castelo: Fabbing Plans Publisher (Portugal)
Edgar has been inventing and publishing his work (and that of others) on his blog, in addition to producing awesome laser cut guns which I sell the plans to on CNCKing.com.You can read his blog at http://faz-voce-mesmo.blogspot.ca/How did you get into designing and what are some of your more notable projects you’ve received recognition for? Are you self-taught or did you go to school to learn what you know?
I’ve got into designing because I was good at drawing, and making stuff. I’ve wona series of Medals for various Inventions, at geneva, Brussels and Nuremberg, lots of Bronze 2 Silver and one Gold Medal, that one for my Triosk.
How do you go about distilling a new design from the start all the way to final production and working prototype? What approaches work best for you and what tools do you use to accomplish this?
I imagine stuff up, in my mind, then go and draw it, on a piece of A4 paper, then I build a Prototipe of the workings of it.When I’m satisfied, I turn into Inkscape, for 2D laser cut plate projects, or Wings3D, that I clean up with NetFabb, for 3D work.
You wrote a book a while back featuring projects across a variety of skill levels and interests – how do people get a copy and do you plan on formally publishing it one day? They can still get it trough, an E-book, but Paper books Editions depend on the sales of this one.
Jon Cantin, que também tem um novo serviço, o cncroi.com, Site a ver, para onde podem encomendar uma data de serviços de Corte e Gravação CNC...

About the Founder
Jonathan has made a name for himself around the world as a published author, self-taught model designer (over 250+), professional CNC machine operator and has been passionate about the CNC industry for over two decades. After almost a decade of travelling and living overseas, he decided to come back to Canada to establish a fabrication and engraving shop that has no equal… using top of the line machinery to put his years of design experience to best use for local and international clients.
E que tal construírem o vosso próprio Laptop?
É o que vos propõe esta fantástica Campanha na IndieGogo, já ultrapassado o valor proposto, por isso, sabem que é mais outro êxito!
Pi-Top, a Raspberry Pi laptop you build yourself!
WHAT IS PI-TOP?
"Voila! A little open source computer for you and yours" - TechCrunch
"The days of home brew, DIY computer making are back, but in mutated form"- Vice: Motherboard
"We just came across Pi-Top & fell in love." - RS Components
Pi-Top provides a platform to expand your knowledge in hardware creation. The kit takes you through each of its components and their functionality, so that you can use Pi-Top as a tool for your own projects in the future.
Pi-Top focuses on teaching people how to create real hardware. Online and integrated lesson plans teach you how to understand electronics, create Printed Circuit Boards, and 3D print objects.
Pi-Top comes with an injection moulded case so you can build Pi-Top on day one. Every kit also comes with 3D printing files so you can print your own Pi-Top case!
As a thank you to our eariest backers, "Day One" Pi-Top full kit contributors, will receive an extra FREE lazer cut acrylic slice with a unique design lazer etched into the acrylic! Only available to those backing us on 14th October.

Shapeoko 2, Arduino UNO R3, grbl 9g, 8bit Laser Diode Photo Engraving
Me and my son invented/developed a new concept of "On-The Fly" 8bit Laser Diode engraving photos over two years ago. We have came a long way since those days at the beginning of our experimentation and here is the instructions of our latest build on a Shapeoko 2.
Photos can be engraved on different materials using a variable intensity controlled Laser Diode to get 8bit shading. The materials we have tested successfully so far is, wood, white stained wood, white painted aluminum, mirrors, white leather and white Artist Canvas. White materials gives us the best 8bit shading of grays and on mirrors we actually get shades between white and silver or the reflection. The mirror also gives us a lithophane effect with some back lighting, but looks very good without back lighting too.
The standard laser photo engraving process prior to our development was to TTL modulate (Pulse) the material with burnt spots/dots using a dithered black & white image to get the allusion of gray shades.
